First Care Provider Pack: We created our First Care Provider Packs to supplement our First Care Kits. In doing so we realized that our hikers, climbers, hunters, and bikers are often concerned about weight and size. One could call this pack an ultra-minimalist kit and you’d get no argument from us. However, when faced with an injury that has resulted in heavy blood loss…this is the items you’ll need! Rather than go on and on, we’ll let the items speak for themselves (1) OLAES® Modular Bandage is the newest generation of trauma bandages and is advantageous for all levels of care providers. Packed with features such as 3 meters of gauze, a removable occlusive plastic sheet behind the dressing pad, and a pressure bar that can also act as an eye cup, the advanced capabilities of the bandage are tucked neatly away and can be utilized if required or simply ignored. No hooks or clips to confuse or delay care. Velcro® ‘Control’ strips prevent the elastic roll from accidentally unraveling and secure the bandage throughout the application process. Designed with direct input from some of the most experienced combat medics in the world, no detail has been left out. From the adhesive ‘brakes’ on the elastic bandage that prevent accidental unrolling to the zig-zag packed gauze that easily feeds from the bandage, this is the most comprehensive feature packed bandage available without any added confusion. No other bandage offers so much versatility in such a small package. Cover minor wounds, apply truly effective pressure dressings, apply occlusive dressings, and have the ability to pack severe wounds with one bandage. (1) Flat Emergency Trauma Dressing (ETD™) series of bandages provide an effective, constant pressure bandage used for the treatment of wounds to control bleeding. The Flat ETD™ is packaged in a low cube space, flat folded configuration to reduce its diameter and footprint in kits. It consists of a resilient elastic wrap equipped with a sterile non-adherent pad, durable securing device and innovative Quick-Grip Roll Control configuration. This combination facilitates a rapid, controlled, and extremely effective application process in the most demanding conditions. The ETD™ can also be used to sling and swath an arm, to secure splints to an extremity or to perform in any other function requiring an elastic wrap. (2) HyFin® Vent Chest Seals set the standard for the prevention, management and treatment of an open and/or tension pneumothorax potentially caused by a penetrating chest trauma. Two seals, each individually packaged, are designed to allow the user to apply a seal to both an entry or an exit wound while also giving the option to only apply one and store the other until needed as the situation requires. This innovative design provides 3-vented channels designed to prevent airflow into the chest cavity during inhalation while allowing air to escape through the vent channels during exhalation. The 3-vent channels are designed to allow blood to escape and also provide a backup fail-safe system, as even if two of the three channels become obstructed, the vent is designed to remain fully operational. Advanced adhesive technology provides superior adhesion as the HyFin® Vent Chest Seal Twin Pack is specifically designed to overcome adverse conditions in austere environments where the casualty may be covered in blood, sweat, body hair, or other environmental contaminants when a reliable chest seal is mandatory. Packaged in a more compact, rugged, easy-to-open twin foil pouch, each chest seal also includes a gauze pad to wipe the wound surface prior to application. The HyFin® Vent Chest Seal Twin Pack has a large red pull tab for single-step peel-and-apply application, while the transparent backing facilitates easy placement over the wound area, conforming to the patient’s chest. This twin pack meets or exceeds the current EMS Standard of Care and TCCC & TECC Guidelines for treatment of penetrating injuries to the chest and is the superior prehospital chest seal. Optional: Add an approved tourniquet to complete this ultralite First Care Provider Kit. Tourniquet will be either a C-A-T® or SOF® Wide.
